Andrea Dighton

Originally from Meanjin (Brisbane), Andrea studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at Queensland University of Technology. She performed as an independent artist and freelance taught at several studios including University of Queensland’s physical training program. Moving to North Queensland in 2014 Andrea coordinated a Performing Arts department in the Burdekin Shire delivering a Certificate III in Performing Arts, whilst completing a Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and Pilates instructor qualifications.

Andrea then moved to Gurambillbarra (Townsville) commencing full time in 2018 as Dancenorth’s Community Experience Coordinator. This role opened many doors and connected Andrea into the local Townsville community, working with a diverse crossection of people including those living with a disability, elderly people, people with Parkinson’s Disease and the refugee / migrant community. Balancing her role as a new mum, Andrea continues to work with Dancenorth as a Dance Teaching Artist.
