ABOUT

Roshni Senapati is an Australian ceramic artist based in Brisbane (Meanjin) exploring memory and ancestral history using porcelain and silk thread. With 35 years of experience as an educator specialising in early childhood, special education, and Indigenous education, she has been greatly influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach, emphasising process and the use of the arts, visual representation and multi-modal languages to make children's thinking visible. This knowledge has also guided her community development work with First Nations communities, where she developed resources for children to learn about Indigenous languages and cultural practices through consultation with Elders.

As an active member of the Napranum PaL Group Board since 2004, she is the foundation developer of the home-based parent engagement program, Parents and Learning (PaL). Roshni currently works part-time at the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), facilitating positive experiences for children and adults in the Children's Art Centre.

Roshni holds a PhD in Education from the University of Queensland, a Master of Education in Teaching (Special Education) from Gujarat University, a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood) from Queensland University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Hons) from Bombay University.
