international day for people with disability
Dancenorth recently held our annual ‘International Day for People with Disability’ DANCE EQUALITY event, celebrating the diversity within our community, with focus on dance as a strong connection to enriching and enhancing lives.
IDPwD is a United Nations sanctioned day that is celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions.
Dancenorth supports continued awareness and facilitates opportunities towards an inclusive community. The theme for International Day of People with Disability for 2018 was ‘Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality’.
This was a FREE event that featured performances from local organisation TCLC and the Tapettes and small dance experience and a sneak peek taster of Robert Crispe’s newest work 'Common Colours' featuring Dancenorth’s Disability Ambassador Chris Dyke.
