Dance Class

For people who love to dance. This open-level contemporary dance class focuses on moving your body in a way that feels great. Whether you know a lot or a little about dancing you are welcomed into the studio to move creatively & expressively. We will help you grow your physical ability and find joy in movement.

Class will be taught by experienced dancers who are encouraging, non-judgemental and fun to be around. Each week will begin with a warmup that focuses on different movement ideas including shaking, stretching, swinging and the transfer of weight to prepare the body for movement. Class will then progress through more structured short phrases and an introduction to floor work. We adhere to safe physical, emotional and cultural practises to ensure we create an environment that is safe and healthy to learn in. Overall dancers are encouraged to play, grow their skills, find greater freedom in their bodies and have a wonderful time.

$15 Casual Class or $130 for a 10-class pass.

Accessibility

Dancenorth is located on the corner of Walker and Stanley Streets in Townsville City. The ground floor of the venue is fully accessible, this includes the Dancenorth Theatre, foyer, bar, main offices and wheelchair accessible toilet.

The main entrance is located at Stanley Street and accessible via wheelchair lift. There is a drop off area outside the Clarion Hotel on Stanley Street, 50m from our main entrance.

Please note, the Dancenorth Studio is only available via a steep flight of stairs. Occasionally our in-house classes take place in the Dancenorth Studio. Please contact Dancenorth prior to your visit to confirm class location for that week (07) 4772 2549.
